Our Level 3 Business Studies students have risen to the challenge, upped their game, and are professionally displaying and selling their products alongside big name brands at Nelson’s annual Home and Garden Show. Make sure you head down and say hello!

are selling unique, flat-pack puzzles featuring one of New Zealand’s endangered species. are selling stylish and unique hoodies and T-Shirts featuring car specifications such as the Porsche 911 GT3. have three flavours you have got to try: Brown Sugar & Cinnamon, BBQ and Sour Cream & Chives.

When the Year 13 students signed up to take Level 3 Business Studies, they were enrolled in the Lion Foundation Young Enterprise Scheme (YES), an experiential programme where students set up and run a real business.

There are four YES challenges that students work through across the year.

  • Challenge 1 鈥 Validation

  • Challenge 2 鈥 The Pitch

  • Challenge 3 鈥 Promotion & Sales

  • Challenge 4 鈥 Annual Review

Right now, our Level 3 students are working on their 4th challenge – the annual review, which involves putting together a formal presentation due next week. In the midst of working hard to sell and promote their products at the Home and Garden Show this weekend, they are all busy collating and reporting on their business achievements across the year.

Each stage has a number of points attached to it and you may remember K膩k膩p艒 Crafts being recognised earlier in the year as having won the regional competition for Challenge 2, with Clutch Clothing coming in 4th equal.

There are up to 20 points available for Challenge 3 and up to 40 points for their annual review. Later in Term 4 there will be a regional final where the companies will once again face a panel of judges. The regional champions will then have the opportunity to compete at the national finals.

We want to wish K膩k膩p艒 Crafts, Clutch Clothing and Only Popcorn all the best as they finish off their final challenges and compete against the other companies across our region. Good luck!

We also want to thank the Nelson Home and Garden Show for once again supporting our students. Make sure you head down to Saxton Stadium and check it out!
