Basketball, Swimming, Orienteering, Hockey, Mountain Biking, and Rugby have been the focus of our sports column this week, showcasing some great individual talent and team efforts.
NZSS Basketball Championships – Senior Girls Basketball
Our senior girls travelled to Palmerston North for nationals and finished up 14th in the country which is a fantastic achievement. This was the first time in 13 years that the girls team had qualified. They were also awarded with the Bayleys #altogetherbetter award for their teamwork and drive to succeed. A big thank you to Waddel and Bayleys Real Estate for the generous donation of $200 in fuel vouchers.
Brooke Swan – Swimming
Congratulations to Brooke Swan who competed against international swimmers at the 2024 Tri Series in Hamilton, winning the 50m fly and setting a new meet record. She also won silver in the 100m fly and 200m fly as well as gold in the mixed medley relay.

Michah Dunn – Orienteering
Congratulations to Micah Dunn who competed in Australia with the NZ Orienteering Team and won gold for the three man team. They also won the Southern Cross Challenge.
U15 Nelson Rep Hockey
Congratulations to Hunter Andrews, Sam Donovan and Mark Tappenden on selection to the U15 Nelson rep hockey team.
NZSS Mountain Biking Championships
Over the holidays the NZSS Mountain Biking Championships were held in Christchurch 鈥 Our team placed 11th, with Xanthe Robb placing 2nd in Downhill and Koby Grigg placing 3rd in the Enduro.
Rugby
Congratulations to Year 13 student Lucy Mahuika on being selected in the New Zealand M膩ori Under 18 Ng膩 M膩reikura team. What an achievement!
